Most of the reviews indicate the mattress is hard. It's hard...which also means it's durable and not a bag of mush. The quality of the product is uncommon for a $99 mattress, and it's construction will last. Great kids mattress (for our daughter), great spare room mattress. Obviously for the money, not something you'd buy for a master bedroom, but for a guest or everday mattress for a twin, it's an excellent buy, and higher quality than others found here or at other online retailers.
The site to store option is quick, and the mattress arrives in a sturdy plastic wrapper and light enough to carry out of the store without a cart.
The covering is durable and not flimsy, and the core is firm (not cardboard hard). Don't think of packing styrofoam, think of very firm memory foam, kinda spongy but not like the kind you can break apart easily (that's the core) covered with a softer outer fabric. It will conform to your body slightly, but not like a coil spring mattress of all foam mattress.
We searched for several mattress, at Walmart and at other online and local retailers, and found most beds (we only needed a top mattress) came with cheap 'box' springs (cardboard over frame covered in cloth) and foamy flimsy top mattresses covered in inferior cloth or patterns that looked like they belonged in the wild west. Most were $150 and up. This product has a nice outer fabric that is not out-dated in appearance, and although the core is much firmer than a spring mattress, exceeds our expectations in a price to value comparison. It's firmness can be compensated for with a pillow top foam accessory, and even with that added expense if desired, still creates a better, higher quality result than other products we looked at.Echo5
Perfect for my needs
I read all the reviews about this mattress before I bought it. It came exactly as promised, a little stiffer than in wanted. The Walmart employee was helpful, examined it for flaws and we chatted a moment about what I was doing with it. I put it in homemade gypsy trailer I use for extended camping. Beats the heck out of air mattresses.
As with all things, you generally get what you pay for and I think I scored better than that. I would recommend this to others.epididymis
I like this mattress, but it was only wrapped in heavy plastic which was torn on both ends. There are black spots on it because of the poor packaging. Also it was shipped by UPS who is notorious for its rough handling.
I have noticed that in less than a week it is showing signs of sagging. I will have to frequently rotate this mattress.Kaatzu
I am thrilled with this thing!! It is very firm at first but surprisingly stress free when you lay down on it! I am a little jealous. I want one! We are just starting to use it, so I will update on the durability, but I don't see this thing going anywhere anytime soon. My 3 yr old loves it. We are using it on the older version of the step2 loft/bunk bed and the thickness leaves lots of room for railing to protect him! I love that it has a washable cover...(too bad its not waterproof, which I will probably be getting for it) but all in all very, very nice and the CHEAPEST one I've seen anywhere online!!!!!!! It is wonderful not to ever have to deal with springs again poking and creaking. His toddler bed was getting very bad after only three years....I have a feeling this thing will be here until he moves out with proper care, covered, and cleaned. And if not, for $100, I wont cry if it does get replaced once or twice if it just can't hang...because boys will be boys.lilskinnerchic
Good for the first 2 months, but DOESN'T LAST
We purchased 2 of these mattresses for our girls twin beds. They looked and felt great the first couple of months, but by the third or fourth month there are HUGE dips where they lay on them. Our oldest is tall and super skinny, but her mattress still has major dips in it, so the manufacturer can't blame this on the weight of a kid. We realize all mattresses will have sagging / dips over time, but major ones LESS THAN SIX MONTHS? We SHOULD HAVE RETURNED THEM, but didn't. It has been just under a year since we bought these and we need to buy different mattresses. We have tried turning these mattresses every few weeks, flipping them around, etc, and nothing makes a difference. Based on the reviews, we thought this would be a good buy, but we are extremely disappointed in the quality. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF SOME MONEY AND HASSLE.....BUY A DIFFERENT PRODUCT!invitegodin
