Great bed but...
This is a great bed and my son loves it. However it did not come with instructions. I made sure I checked everywhere for them because someone else said they were hiding well in between cardboard, this was not the case. I was able to find some online, and printed them. However the letter codes on that paper did not match the stickers on the pieces, which caused me to have to take apart the bed at least 3 times to fix things. Attaching the slide was the hardest because of this. In the end it took me 3.5 hours to assemble this alone, maybe it could have gone quicker if I had my help but my husband was away and my son wanted it done. I also am not sure of weight restrictions but I can't imagine a child over 60-70 lbs should use the slide, the brackets holding it in place do not appear strong enough to me for a child much bigger. If I could go back in time a week I'd still order this bed. It's cute set up and a great price for what you get. Just keep your fingers crossed that you get the instructions!Jesseric777
Love Love Love this bed!!!
I promised my son (age 2.5) that one he became a big boy wearing big boy underpants and no more diapers, then he'd get a big boy bed. Little did I know at the time that cool beds like this were available!!
When I began my bed research, I thought I'd get a bunk with a full over a twin with some cool sheets - but then I saw this loft bed with the firetruck curtain and knew my son would love it.
My husband dismantled the crib and assembled the new bed within an hour - very straightforward according to him.
When we gave my son his surprise, he was naturally in awe of the slide and went on it lots of times. He's fallen off the ladder a few times, as the rungs are far apart and he's very little, but he's climbed harder things at the park, so I know he'll get used to it.
Really happy with the choice - I know this bed will make the transition from crib to big boy bed really easy for us as he'll want to be in his cool bed. I was worried he'd be running into our room once he had the freedom out of the crib.PQOTD
Easy assembly, requires a lot of space
I read a lot of reviews prior to ordering this bed. I just wanted to review a few of the things I wished I'd known before ordering. First, the width of the bed with the slide attached requires at least 9 feet. The bed is 41 inches wide without the length of the slide. Once you attach the slide (which adds another 60 inches of floor space) you need to count on this taking up about 9 - 10 feet of space. Second, the bed rail height is only 12 inches high. The mattress pictured is a 6 inch bunk bed style mattress. This makes the picture seem like the bed rail is fairly high. We put our standard Sealy twin bed mattress (not a pillow top) on the top of this bed, and the mattress is as high, if not slightly higher, than the bed rail. I am not happy with this. There is no way to attach an additional bed rail like you might use between a mattress and box spring. Third, the height under the mattress /bed is only about 28 inches. It is a small height, but ok for a play space. It fits kids 6 and under well, but its hard to fit under there as an adult. I don't think a kid over 10 would fit well. Also the total height of the bed from the floor to the top of the bed rail is about 4 feet. While the slide takes up a bit of floor space, it isn't that long of a slide, so kids over 6 may be too big for it. Overall, the assembly was no more difficult than typical Swedish big box furniture. The bed tent arrives separately than the bed itself. The bed arrived in one box and in only a few days after ordering.Hudanick
Easy, Great Quality, and Affordable
This is a great product. I ordered it on a Thursday and received it on the following Wednesday. This bed is perfect for my four y/o boy because it gives me room underneath it to add a ball pit, and the height of the bed is low enough to not hurt him if he falls off (futon on the bottom). It was heavy (more than 90 lbs.) and I had to move it up a flight of stairs (hubby was at work), but I was able to do it by myself. The bedroom was already painted, but the room was empty so I have enough room to work with which made it so much easier. It took me two hours to bring it up stairs, check to make sure all parts and hardware were included, assemble it (including ironing the fire truck sheets and attaching it to the outside), clean up, and register it.
The assembly is so easy, except for the slide part. There is one part that attaches the slide to the bed that was a little hard to figure out, but it took me only five minutes to get it right. The instructions are easy to follow and the only tool you need is provided (Hex wrench). I recommend that you screw the bolt in as far as you can with your hand, then tighten it w/ the wrench. The instructions say that two people are needed for the assembly, but a third person is recommended. I completely ignored that and was able to do it by myself. All this was done trying to take care of two rowdy boys while cooking dinner. That goes to show how easy it was. BTW, the slide and stairs cannot be switched. However the picture is, that's exactly how it has to be assembled, so you CANNOT put the slide on the right and the steps on the left.
My two sons (6 and 4 years old) have kid tested it out and it seems pretty durable. There were no loose bolts, nor was it shaky. It's stable, but the only thing is my four year old isn't used to the height underneath so he always stands up and bumps his head. Otherwise, it's a really great product that's easy to assemble and it's affordable.
--Get the dimensions of the bed of when it's assembled--it should be given in the product overview--and see if you can fit the bed, including the slide, in the room. Also, figure out how you want it positioned in the room and see if the slide will fit proportionately with it. I think from one side of the bed to the tip of the slide is 90".
--If you plan on painting, do it before you assemble, but be careful not to bump the walls with the parts for the bed.
--Clear out the entire room so you have all the space you need to work with; you're going to need all the room you can get.
--Screw in the bolts by hand, then tighten it with the wrench.
I hope this review helps you with choosing the bed that you want and it shows you how easy it is to assemble alone.
Awesome loft bed.
I wanted this bed for the longest and every time I was going to order it, it was out of stock about 4 times I tried to buy but could not do so. My parents knew what bed I was looking for and just recently brought this bed for my 6 year old boy and I was ecstatic about it, making this bed the more special to me.
As soon as it arrived I could not help but assemble the bed and it took 3 hours for me alone to put together, it is not difficult the instructions are comprehensible and it has alot of detail into the construction of this bed by the time I was finished I was tired, it helps to first make sure you have lots of space for the task, lay out your pieces and take it one step at a time, it is better to have a helping hand because some parts are heavy at times and you need someone holding parts just so you can screw the screws on. If you read the instructions it should go smooth just at each step identify parts that are mentioned in the steps gather them then put together accordingly. I love the bed my son loves it oh he bragged to every kid in my neighborhood but I dont let them use because this is my son's bed and he can be greedy with it and I don't want strange feet on it and I am buying one for my neiceismaelsmom
